At Colorado College since 2014, I have been developing the Italian program by creating new courses taught in English, bridge courses, and all levels of Italian language; my courses have been cross-listed with German, Comparative Literature, English, and Music. Always committed to equity and inclusion, I have taught with Fred Kudjo Kuwornu the first course both in Italy and in the US entirely dedicated to Afroitalian cinema. Sudying abroad was one of the most formative experiences of my life: today, I enjoy and take great pride in taking students to field trips in the US and in Italy. Financial accessibility to study abroad is also one of my most important goals, that is why I direct a half-semester program in Italy, which students can attend for free. Organizing events, talks, cooking labs, and fund raisers at the Italian House, has also helped interesting many more students in the study of Italian culture!
I have a ghost writer named Ziggy, and two teaching assistants. At Colorado College, we invite therapy dogs to our learning center to help de-stress students before our frequent exams. However, students often just miss their pets, and many of them have asked repeatedly to bring my dogs to class. After discussing this request with my department chair, it turned out everyone enjoys very much the occasional co-taught class!
